Homemade Pie Crust With Maman

My maman says she makes her own pie crust so that, "you know what's inside of it. They put all kinds of additives in the pie crust you buy in the store." And guys... it's delicious. Plus, it’s really easy to make! She's been perfecting and tweaking her recipe and this is a way for me to keep a digital cookbook of her recipes for my ohana (and all of you!).

Plus, this video gives you BONUS behind the scenes footage of my mom and dad (so funny)... this is the first time any of us have seen my dad "cook" something. The best part is that he was the one who asked her to teach him. I couldn't help but film it. Enjoy! I hope it puts a smile on your face like it did for me.

Pâte Brisée

Ingredients:

1 cup of flour
1 stick of butter
5 tbsp. of water
2 pinches of salt

- Put 1 cup of flour into a bowl

- Cut 1 stick of room temperature butter into small pieces

- Add butter to bowl and incorporate into flour

- Add 3 tbsp of water (if it needs more water, add a couple more tbsp)

- Cover with a plastic wrap and let sit for one hour

- Pat the dough down into the shape of circle

- Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough to desired size with even thickness

- Transfer dough to buttered pan

- Put into oven at 390 degrees for 10 minutes

- Check the crust for doneness. It might need another 2-3 minutes

- Fill with desired quiche filling and voila!

*You can also put Saran Wrap on the dough and roll into or fold it to freeze for later use (or as a ball of dough for that matter)*
